The Center for BodyMindMovement presents
The Embodied Anatomy of Connection
with Mark Taylor, Margaret Rennerfeldt, and Ray Schwartz
February 13-15, 2026
Shared Visions Retreat Center
3717 Murphy School Rd, Durham, NC 27705
The Embodied Anatomy of Connection series invites participants to explore somatic movement through the theme of connection—to self, to the environment, and to each other. Each class stands alone, so participants may drop into any single session or attend the full weekend. No prior experience is required, so long as you are willing to participate in self-exploration through movement, touch, and meditation. The Valentine’s Day somatic movement weekend is designed to provide participants with an easy, expansive, and stimulating experience of self-awareness appropriate to the holiday!

Friday
6–9 PM — Connecting from the Marrow
Embodying the skeletal system allows us to connect to self and to the environment by building multiple relational bridges: bone to bone, bone to earth, and bone to the heavens.
Saturday
10 AM–1 PM — Balancing Fluids
The movement of fluids in your body recapitulates the circulation of fluids through the earth and atmosphere and connects you with all the fluid that has moved on the earth. We embody the circulation of blood, lymph, and other fluids to connect our individual bodies with the earth and with the lifeblood of community.
2–5 PM — Wisdom of the Heart
The heart is an organ, a muscle, an endocrine organ, and a brain: it is the orchestrator of coherence in the body. On this Valentine’s Day, we will look at how we connect with self and others through the heart and prime the body’s pump for giving and receiving.
Sunday
10 AM–2 PM — Embodying Connection: The Nervous System and the Fascial Web
The nervous system and the fasciae are two body systems that provide connection and communication throughout the entire body. The embodiment of each one provides a unique pleasure in movement and exploring their relationship supports resilience, flexibility, and wholeness, as well as extending consciousness beyond the body into collective tissue and community awareness.
